As per a report on e-waste of UN-World Economic Forum titled, “A New Circular Vision for Electronics, that quoted, “It’s uncommon to throw away gold, silver or platinum jewellery, but that is not true about electronic and electrical goods containing the same precious metals; up to 7% of the world’s gold may currently be contained in e-waste.” Waste streams all over the globe had reached 48.5 million tonnes in 2018, and the figures are expected to spike and get doubled. This calls for recycling of e-waste efficiently, so that minerals that are landing up in the waste can be extracted in the best way possible, and channelised again into the production process where they are most in demand.
